AI summary

Sammaan Capital reported a consolidated net loss of Rs 7,144.56 crore for FY26, significantly worse than Rs 1,807.46 crore loss in FY25. The steep losses were driven by an exceptional item of Rs 6,499.17 crore related to sale of identified loan exposures to an Asset Reconstruction Company (ARC) worth Rs 14,953 crore, reclassified from hold-to-collect to hold-to-sell model. Revenue from operations declined 5.3% to Rs 8,166 crore from Rs 8,623 crore. The company also recognized a Rs 1,850 crore Management Overlay provision for credit losses due to macroeconomic uncertainties. Despite the losses, the new promoter Avenir Investment RSC Ltd (controlled by Abu Dhabi's IHC) has committed Rs 8,850 crore investment, and credit ratings were upgraded by Moody's, CRISIL, and CARE. The Board also authorized raising up to Rs 10,000 crore via debt securities.

Likely market impact

The massive exceptional loss of Rs 6,499 crore from strategic portfolio clean-up will significantly impact book value and may create near-term stock price pressure. However, the new promoter backing from IHC and rating upgrades suggest improved long-term stability, while the Rs 10,000 crore fund-raising authorization provides capital-raising flexibility.
