The Karnataka High Court has passed a final order confirming that the Forest Clearances held by Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores are valid. This relates to clearances originally granted in January 2007. Back in January 2014, the Ministry of Environment & Forest had directed the company to suspend mining at both its leases, though the Supreme Court later granted a stay allowing operations to resume. After more than a decade of court proceedings, the High Court has now ruled in the company's favour. The company can continue mining operations without needing to renew these clearances.
