On the reaction day the stock moved 2.1 pts more than Nifty Microcap 250 and 1.5 pts more than its Pharmaceuticals peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Sanofi India received a show cause notice from GST authorities on 31 Aug 2026, alleging the company misclassified some products at 5 percent GST instead of 12 percent for FY 2020-21. The proposed tax liability is Rs 36.39 crore with an equal proposed penalty of Rs 36.39 crore. The company is reviewing the notice with tax advisors and plans to respond within the prescribed period. Sanofi says it does not foresee any material adverse impact on its financials or operations from this notice.
Show cause stage only, no penalty imposed yet. Company will contest; total potential exposure about Rs 73 crore if decided against it.
