The board of SCILAL, at its meeting on May 6, 2025, approved audited standalone financial results for Q4 and FY ended March 31, 2025, with an unmodified audit opinion from A.T. Jain & Co. Total income for FY25 stood at Rs. 10,335 lakhs vs Rs. 9,894 lakhs last year, while profit before tax rose to Rs. 6,514 lakhs from Rs. 5,510 lakhs. However, the company swung to a net loss of Rs. 18,938 lakhs (vs a profit of Rs. 4,749 lakhs in FY24) and EPS of Rs. (4.07), mainly because of a one-time deferred tax expense of Rs. 23,822 lakhs (Rs. 238.34 crore) booked on the MTI segment after the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2024 withdrew the indexation benefit for long-term capital gains. The board has recommended a final dividend of Re. 0.55 per share (5.5%), entailing an outgo of about Rs. 25.62 crore, subject to shareholder approval at the AGM.
The headline loss is accounting-driven due to a non-cash deferred tax charge and not from core operations, so the dividend declaration signals management confidence. Still, the sharp swing to negative PAT and weak operating cash flow may keep the stock under pressure in the near term.
