Shyamkamal Investments Ltd, an RBI-registered NBFC, reported a turnaround in FY25 with total income of ₹186.32 lakhs (up from ₹1.08 lakhs in FY24) and a profit after tax of ₹50.32 lakhs versus a loss of ₹21.06 lakhs last year. Q4 FY25 alone delivered a PAT of ₹104.80 lakhs on revenue of ₹118.36 lakhs, with EPS of ₹0.78 for the quarter and ₹0.37 for the full year. The balance sheet expanded sharply to ₹1,964.69 lakhs (vs ₹425.20 lakhs), funded mainly by short-term borrowings of ₹1,207.57 lakhs and a ₹3.36 crore preferential issue in September 2024. However, other equity remains deeply negative at ₹-599.16 lakhs, the current ratio is a very weak 0.16, and the auditor issued a qualified opinion citing the absence of an audit trail and the inability to verify recoverability of ₹80 lakhs owed by a joint-venture counterparty.
The swing to profit and strong Q4 numbers are positive, but the qualified audit opinion, low liquidity, and more than 61% of assets funded by short-term debt raise red flags for investors. Shareholders should watch for resolution of the audit qualifications and improvement in working capital before drawing comfort from the headline numbers.
