SpiceJet has informed the stock exchanges that the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court, in its order dated May 23, 2025, has dismissed the appeal filed by KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran seeking damages of more than Rs. 1,300 crore. This is the third favourable ruling for SpiceJet in the same matter — the original claims were first rejected by an Arbitral Tribunal comprising three retired Supreme Court judges, and the same was then upheld by the Single-Judge Bench of the Delhi High Court. With the Division Bench also rejecting the appeal, the long-running dispute over these damages claims now stands conclusively settled in SpiceJet's favour.
Positive for shareholders — a potential Rs. 1,300 crore+ liability overhang has been fully extinguished, removing a major legal and financial uncertainty that had weighed on the stock.
