SpiceJet reported a weak Q1 FY26 with standalone revenue from operations falling to Rs. 1,106.06 crore from Rs. 1,695.52 crore in Q1 FY25, a decline of about 35% year-on-year. The company swung to a standalone net loss of Rs. 237.66 crore, compared to a profit of Rs. 150.44 crore in the same quarter last year. Consolidated net loss stood at Rs. 236.58 crore. The performance was hurt by grounded aircraft awaiting maintenance, airspace restrictions from geopolitical tensions, and subdued customer sentiment after a tragic aviation accident. Accumulated losses stood at Rs. 8,002.47 crore (standalone) and current liabilities exceeded current assets by Rs. 3,868.81 crore.
Auditors flagged material uncertainty over SpiceJet's ability to continue as a going concern and issued a qualified conclusion citing non-compliance with various laws and TDS/GST/RBI delays. Ongoing litigation with erstwhile promoters (Kalanithi Maran/KAL Airways) worth over Rs. 579 crore remains sub-judice, adding to investor risk concerns despite management's confidence in continued operations.
