SpiceJet informed the stock exchanges that the Supreme Court, in its order dated July 23, 2025, has dismissed the appeal filed by KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran seeking damages of more than Rs. 1,300 crore along with other claims. These claims had already been rejected earlier by the Arbitral Tribunal, the Delhi High Court, and the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court. With this ruling, the appeals by KAL Airways and Kalanithi Maran stand finally dismissed. The only remaining matters are SpiceJet's own appeals before the Court challenging the interest levied (which has been substantially deposited) and the pre-mature refund of the CRPS amount ordered by the Arbitral Tribunal.
This is a positive outcome for SpiceJet shareholders, as a major Rs. 1,300+ crore liability threat has been definitively cleared at the highest judicial level. Removing this long-pending overhang should improve investor confidence, though small residual issues on interest and CRPS refund are still pending.
