Steel Exchange India completed a Rs 350 crore refinancing to take over Rs 340 crore of high-cost non-convertible debentures and term loans. Rs 150 crore was used for partial prepayment, and Rs 199.17 crore to buy the company’s listed debentures from existing holders. The new rate is about 5.50 percentage points below 18.75%, with repayment extended to September 2030. This is expected to cut cash outflow by Rs 130 crore through FY 2028.
Lower borrowing costs and longer tenure should improve liquidity. Rs 130 crore of cash outflow is saved through FY 2028, benefiting shareholders.
