Steelco Gujarat reported a Q2 FY26 loss of Rs. 787.17 lakhs, wider than the Rs. 464.36 lakhs loss in Q2 FY25. Revenue from operations jumped dramatically to Rs. 1,902.28 lakhs from just Rs. 33.48 lakhs a year ago, but total expenses surged even faster to Rs. 2,695.45 lakhs, driven by sharp increases in raw material costs and purchases of traded goods. For the half year, the loss deepened to Rs. 1,251.53 lakhs versus Rs. 645.21 lakhs in H1 FY25, with EPS at Rs. (25.20). The auditor (M Sahu & Co.) issued an unqualified limited review report. Borrowings rose to Rs. 11,353.72 lakhs while equity shrank to Rs. 2,752.31 lakhs, and operating cash flow turned sharply negative at Rs. (1,436.88) lakhs.
Despite a huge spike in revenue, the company is losing more money than before, with expenses far outpacing sales growth and a debt-to-equity ratio above 4x raising financial risk. Shareholders should view this as a negative signal — losses are widening, leverage is rising, and cash burn from operations is heavy.
