Sterling Greenwoods Limited reported a standalone net loss of Rs. 48.05 lakh for Q1 FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025), narrowing from a Rs. 80.05 lakh loss in Q1 FY25. Total operating income rose modestly to Rs. 165 lakh from Rs. 144 lakh year-on-year. The auditor flagged that lease income of Rs. 45 lakh from Pushpadevi Goenka Trust was not booked for the quarter, which if recognized would have reduced the loss. The board also appointed Nahta Jain & Associates as the new Statutory Auditor for 5 years (FY26 to FY30), replacing the previous auditor, along with a new Secretarial Auditor and Internal Auditor. Multiple ongoing legal matters including NCLT cases, civil suits related to FY2010 asset transfers, and a 2019 FIR against a former resort manager for fund misappropriation were highlighted.
For shareholders, the loss narrowed meaningfully but the company continues to post losses, and several unresolved legal and regulatory matters (NCLT, civil suits, FIR) remain overhangs. The auditor change mid-year and the non-booking of lease income may raise governance concerns for retail investors.
