Sutlej Textiles reported a weak set of numbers for Q1 FY26. Consolidated revenue from operations fell to ₹604.89 crores, down about 8% from ₹658.07 crores in Q1 FY25 and lower than ₹678.67 crores in the preceding Q4 FY25. The company slipped deeper into the red, posting a consolidated loss before tax of ₹43.05 crores (vs ₹18.77 cr loss in Q1 FY25) and a loss after tax of ₹30.10 crores, translating to an EPS of ₹(1.84). Standalone results also showed a loss of ₹25.68 crores on revenue of ₹598.49 crores. Management flagged that the India-Pakistan war disrupted operations at its northern India manufacturing units, hurting both yarn and home textile segments, both of which reported segment losses. An exceptional impairment of ₹22.70 crores on its US subsidiary investment (Sutlej Holdings Inc. / American Silk Mills) was booked in the previous year (FY25).
Shareholders face another quarter of widening losses and weakening top line, with the geopolitical disruption adding to existing margin pressure from higher finance costs. The negative earnings surprise and the prior US subsidiary impairment are likely to weigh on near-term stock sentiment, though the war-related impact is being positioned as a one-off.
