Tamilnad Mercantile Bank reported Q2 FY27 net profit of ₹451 crore, up 42.09% year on year. Gross advances rose 29.32% to ₹60,691 crore and deposits grew 25.49% to ₹69,546 crore. Net interest margin improved to 4.19%, while gross and net bad-loan ratios fell to 0.61% and 0.14%. The bank estimates an additional ₹385 crore credit provision is needed under new rules from April 2027.
Strong profit and loan growth are positive, but the ₹385 crore future provisioning need could weigh on earnings and the stock.
