Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Limited reported total revenue of Rs. 4720.77 Crore for FY26, up 2.9% from Rs. 4588.31 Crore in FY25. Profit after tax surged to Rs. 247.75 Crore from just Rs. 3.73 Crore, boosted by a one-time deferred tax liability reversal of Rs. 219.43 Crore due to opting for the new tax regime. Without this tax benefit, PBT was Rs. 50.60 Crore vs Rs. 5.30 Crore in FY25. EBITDA increased to Rs. 556.66 Crore from Rs. 525.17 Crore. The company achieved highest ever production and sales of Paper and Board. The Board recommended a dividend of Rs. 4 per share (40%). The auditors issued an unmodified (clean) opinion.
The PAT growth appears dramatic but is largely inflated by a one-time tax benefit. Excluding this, underlying operational performance shows improvement with EBITDA margin expansion. The dividend is positive for shareholders but investors should note the tax benefit is non-recurring.
