The Board of TNPL approved audited standalone results for Q4 FY25 and full-year FY25. Total income for FY25 stood at Rs. 4,588.31 Crore, down from Rs. 4,761.80 Crore in FY24. Revenue from operations declined to Rs. 4,490.91 Crore from Rs. 4,689.61 Crore. Profit before tax collapsed sharply to Rs. 5.30 Crore from Rs. 324.76 Crore, and profit after tax fell to Rs. 3.73 Crore from Rs. 208.16 Crore, a drop of about 98%. EBITDA for the year declined to Rs. 527.17 Crore from Rs. 838.75 Crore. The Board recommended a final dividend of Rs. 3 per share (30% on face value of Rs. 10). The statutory auditor M/s Maharaj N R Suresh and Co LLP issued an unmodified opinion. The company cited a surge in cheap paper imports from ASEAN countries and a 20-25% rise in domestic hardwood pulp prices as reasons for the severe margin pressure.
Despite a modest revenue dip, the near-total collapse in profits signals heavy margin compression and weak earnings quality. However, the continuation of a 30% dividend offers some comfort to shareholders, while the new CFO and Executive Director appointments point to management changes aimed at addressing operational challenges.
