Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Papers Limited reported total revenue of Rs. 4720.77 crore for FY2025-26, up 2.9% from Rs. 4588.31 crore in the previous year. Profit after tax surged to Rs. 247.75 crore from just Rs. 3.73 crore in the prior year, boosted significantly by a Rs. 219.43 crore reversal of deferred tax liability due to the company opting for the new tax regime. EBITDA for the year stood at Rs. 556.66 crore versus Rs. 525.17 crore previously. The company achieved its highest-ever production and sales of paper and board since inception. The Board recommended a dividend of Rs. 4 per share (40%) for shareholder approval at the AGM.
The massive PAT increase is largely driven by a one-time deferred tax reversal of Rs. 219.43 crore, so underlying operational improvement is more modest. The stock may see a positive reaction to strong PAT, dividend declaration, and highest-ever production milestone despite challenging market conditions from cheap imports.
