Tata Steel delivered strong full-year FY2026 results with consolidated EBITDA rising 35% YoY to Rs 34,848 crores and PAT jumping over 3x to Rs 10,886 crores from Rs 3,174 crores. Consolidated revenue grew 6% YoY to Rs 2,32,140 crores. India operations were a key driver, posting best-ever crude steel production of ~23.4 million tons and EBITDA margin expansion to 24%, while Netherlands almost tripled EBITDA and UK losses halved. The company commissioned a 0.75 MTPA scrap-based EAF at Ludhiana and reduced net debt by ~Rs 2,285 crores YoY to Rs 80,144 crores, resulting in a Net debt/EBITDA of 2.3x. However, Tata Steel Netherlands faces significant regulatory challenges with environmental permit revocation threats and over €20 million in penalties paid for emissions exceedances at its aging coke and gas plants, leading auditors to flag a material uncertainty to going concern.
Tata Steel's strong PAT growth and margin expansion are positive for shareholders, though the regulatory situation in Netherlands poses execution risk. The balance sheet has improved with lower leverage, and the Rs 4/share dividend provides shareholder returns. The going concern flag on Netherlands operations is a notable watch item.
