Tata Steel reported standalone net profit of ₹16,065 crore for FY2026, up 15% YoY from ₹13,970 crore, on revenue of ₹1,39,720 crore (up 5.4%). The Board recommended a dividend of ₹4 per share (400%). Auditors issued an unmodified clean opinion on standalone results. However, consolidated results show significant challenges: 13 subsidiaries (including Tata Steel Netherlands) reported combined net loss of ₹6,435 crore, with another 15 unaudited subsidiaries showing net loss of ₹1,107 crore. Tata Steel Netherlands (TSN), a wholly-owned indirect subsidiary, faces a going concern material uncertainty due to the Environment Agency's intention to revoke operating permits and trigger early closure of its 40-50 year old coke and gas plants at IJmuiden. TSN has paid over €20 million in penalties in FY2026 for emission exceedances. The Board approved acquisition of an additional 23% stake (41.4 lakh shares) in TM International Logistics Limited from IQ for ₹335 crore, which will increase Tata Steel's holding to 74%.
Standalone performance is strong with profit growth and dividend. However, the going concern warning for Tata Steel Netherlands and consolidated losses of over ₹7,500 crore across subsidiaries signal significant risks in the international operations that could impact the group's overall financial health.
