Tata Steel informed exchanges that the Orissa High Court has extended interim protection in two writ petitions challenging demand notices on its Sukinda Chromite Block. Demand 1 (around ₹1,902.73 crore) and Demand 2 (around ₹2,410.90 crore) relate to alleged shortfalls in mineral dispatch under the Mine Development and Production Agreement. The court has restrained coercive action by authorities until the next hearing on January 29, 2026.
Total disputed demand around ₹4,313 crore. Interim protection shields Tata Steel from coercive recovery till Jan 29 hearing - near-term relief, final outcome pending.
