Tata Steel received two demand notices from Odisha mines authorities totaling about Rs 4,313 crore for alleged shortfalls in mineral dispatch from its Sukinda Chromite Block. The company challenged both in the Orissa High Court, which on April 20, 2026 quashed the demand notices. State of Odisha has now appealed to the Supreme Court, which issued notice on Aug 25, 2026; next hearing on October 5, 2026.
Demand notices worth about Rs 4,313 crore were quashed by High Court, but Odisha's Supreme Court appeal keeps the outcome uncertain for shareholders.
