Birla Cotsyn reported revenue from operations of Rs. 2,988.16 Lakhs for FY26, a strong recovery compared to the prior year which showed virtually zero standalone revenue. However, the company posted a net loss of Rs. 1,916.15 Lakhs for FY26, though this is a major improvement from the Rs. 21,477.19 Lakhs loss in FY25. The prior year loss was inflated by an exceptional item of Rs. 20,529.62 Lakhs. Total equity has collapsed from Rs. 3,567.17 Lakhs (FY25) to Rs. 1,651.03 Lakhs (FY26), primarily due to accumulated losses resulting in negative retained earnings of Rs. 992.39 Lakhs. Borrowings nearly doubled from Rs. 2,221.43 Lakhs to Rs. 3,799.78 Lakhs. The statutory auditor, Jain Kothari & Co., issued an unmodified opinion. Operating cash flow was negative at Rs. 1,408.47 Lakhs.
The company remains deeply loss-making with negative equity and heavy borrowings, raising serious concerns about financial health despite top-line recovery and reduced losses versus the prior year. The stock is essentially a turnaround speculative play.
