The Bombay High Court (Division Bench) ruled in favor of Tilaknagar Industries in a trademark dispute over the brands Mansion House and Savoy Club. The court dismissed the appeal filed by UTO Nederland B.V./Herman Jansen B.V., thereby upholding Tilaknagar's ownership and exclusive right to use these trademarks in India. The court also allowed Tilaknagar's appeals and set aside a February 7, 2025 order that had gone against the company. As a result, competitors UTO and Allied Blenders and Distillers (ABD) have been restrained from launching Mansion House or Savoy Club branded products in India until the final court decision. The quantum of claim is NIL, and the trial court has been asked to expedite hearing of the main suit.
This is a positive outcome for shareholders — it protects Tilaknagar's exclusive rights to two of its key liquor brands in India and blocks competitors from entering with similar products, which could support the company's revenue and market position in the brandy and whisky segments.
