Sundaram Finance Holdings posted strong Q1 FY26 results, with standalone total income rising to Rs. 13,440.45 lakhs from Rs. 7,978.37 lakhs in Q1 FY25 (about 68% YoY growth). Standalone profit after tax jumped to Rs. 11,836.32 lakhs (EPS Rs. 5.33) versus Rs. 6,169.32 lakhs (EPS Rs. 2.78) a year ago, driven mainly by higher dividend income from subsidiaries. On a consolidated basis, total income surged to Rs. 18,101.58 lakhs from Rs. 4,427.81 lakhs, with consolidated PAT of Rs. 2,123.03 lakhs. A major development was the acquisition of an additional 24.17% stake in Axles India Limited, taking total holding to 62.98% and giving the company control from May 2, 2025, which is now reflected in consolidation. The company also sold 5,56,375 shares of TVS Holdings, booking a Rs. 301.43 crore gain reclassified from OCI reserve to retained earnings.
Strong YoY earnings growth, driven by higher subsidiary dividends and the Axles India consolidation, should be positive for shareholders. The Axles India acquisition adds a manufacturing business line and meaningfully expands the consolidated revenue base, though it makes prior-period comparisons less meaningful.
