Mideast Integrated Steels Limited reported a standalone loss after tax of Rs. 292.01 crore for H1 FY26 with zero revenue from operations in Q2 (standalone mines remain shut since January 2018 due to a Supreme Court order). On a consolidated basis, revenue fell to Rs. 276.25 crore from Rs. 312.41 crore in H1 FY25, and the company swung from a profit of Rs. 132.43 crore to a loss of Rs. 100.85 crore. The auditor issued a qualified review opinion, flagging serious concerns including no insurance on fixed assets of Rs. 1,562 crore, non-moving receivables of Rs. 118 crore, unpaid tax and regulatory dues of Rs. 169.57 crore, and a non-provisioned Supreme Court compensation liability of Rs. 924.75 crore. The auditor explicitly stated that the company may not be a going concern.
This is a deeply negative filing. The qualified opinion, going-concern warning, and the massive unprovided Supreme Court liability (Rs. 924.75 cr) which exceeds the company's net worth pose existential risk to shareholders. Existing investors face significant downside risk and the stock is likely to remain under severe pressure.
