Universal Cables' board approved Q1 FY26 (ended 30 June 2025) standalone and consolidated financial results along with three other items. Standalone revenue from operations rose to ₹60,019 lakhs from ₹48,870 lakhs in Q1 FY25, a growth of about 22.8%. Standalone profit for the quarter jumped sharply to ₹1,950 lakhs from just ₹167 lakhs a year ago, while EPS rose to ₹5.62 from ₹0.48. On a consolidated basis, profit after tax climbed to ₹3,291 lakhs (₹559 lakhs in Q1 FY25) with EPS of ₹9.49, helped by a ₹1,793 lakhs share of profit from associate Vindhya Telelinks and JV Birla Furukawa Fibre Optics. The board also approved issuing a corporate guarantee of USD 11.3 million (back-to-back, 50% of a USD 22.6 million facility) to Lightera LLC, USA, on behalf of its JV Birla Furukawa Fibre Optics, to enable import of Preforms from Shin-Etsu Chemical, Japan. Additionally, Shri Sanjeev Dubey was designated as Senior Managerial Personnel.
Strong Q1 results with revenue up ~23% and profits surging over 10x year-on-year signal a robust operational performance. The new USD 11.3 million guarantee is a contingent liability for the company (linked to its JV), but the board expects no actual outflow. The auditor's emphasis of matter on Vindhya Telelinks' unconsolidated subsidiaries is a minor governance flag worth monitoring.
