Universal Cables posted its highest-ever quarterly revenue of Rs. 674.03 Crores in Q4 FY25, up 16% year-on-year, driven by strong demand for Medium Voltage and Low Voltage cables. Full-year revenue grew 19% to Rs. 2,408.39 Crores, while standalone net profit rose 6% to Rs. 57.28 Crores. However, standalone EBITDA margin slipped to about 8.3% from 9.1% in FY24, reflecting higher raw material and finance costs. The company operated at around 90% capacity utilization, spent Rs. 126.31 Crores on capex in FY25 as part of a Rs. 505 Crore expansion plan to be completed in FY26, and management guided for 20-25% revenue CAGR over the next five years. The board recommended a dividend of Rs. 4 per share (40%), and the auditor issued an unmodified opinion with an emphasis of matter on three unconsolidated subsidiaries of its associate Vindhya Telelinks.
Strong top-line growth and record quarterly sales are positives, but compressed margins and a slight uptick in borrowings to fund capex warrant attention. Shareholders get a 40% dividend, while the stock may react to the forward growth guidance of 20-25% revenue CAGR and ongoing capacity expansion.
