The promoter group of VIP Industries (Dilip Piramal and persons acting in concert) sold shares worth roughly 3.7 crore equity shares (about 26% of total capital) through the open market on 24th December 2025. Five promoter entities — DGP Securities, Piramal Vibhuti Investments, Kiddy Plast, Kemp & Company, and Alcon Finance & Investments — each pared their holdings sharply, reducing them to a nominal 10,000 shares each. As a result, the combined promoter group stake collapsed from approximately 43.2% to about 17.1% of the company. The disclosure was filed by all five entities separately under Regulation 29(2) of SEBI SAST Regulations, triggered because each entity sold more than 2% of the voting capital.
This is a very negative signal — promoters collectively exiting to such an extent signals loss of confidence and is likely to weigh heavily on the stock. A drop of ~26 percentage points in promoter holding increases the float available in the market and usually triggers sharp short-term price declines along with re-rating concerns about governance and strategic direction.
