On the reaction day the stock moved 2.3 pts less than Nifty Midcap 150 and 1.8 pts less than its Telecom - Cellular & Fixed line services peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Bombay High Court on June 8, 2026 quashed the Department of Telecommunications demand notices for One Time Spectrum Charges (OTSC) of Rs 2,113 crores against Vodafone Idea (erstwhile Idea Cellular and Spice Communications, since merged). The court also ordered return of Bank Guarantees given to DoT. The demand was originally raised in January 2013 for spectrum beyond 6.2 MHz for the retrospective period from July 2008 to December 2012. Vodafone Idea had filed writ petitions in 2013 challenging the demand. The court ruled that DoT had no source of power to levy such charge retrospectively.
Major relief for cash-strapped Vodafone Idea as Rs 2,113 crore liability stands quashed and bank guarantees will be returned, easing balance sheet pressure.
