The U.S. Department of Commerce has imposed preliminary countervailing duties of 126% on certain solar imports from India; the final outcome is expected over the coming months. Waaree Energies states it continued ramping up U.S. shipments in 9MFY26 despite an earlier 50% duty, supported by its diversified supply chains and sourcing strategy. The company is also investing in Oman for traceable, non-Chinese polysilicon supply. Waaree currently has about 2.6 GW of U.S. module manufacturing capacity (including the acquired Meyer Burger facility) and is expanding it to roughly 4.2 GW by end of FY27. The company says it does not expect any material adverse impact on its ability to service its U.S. order book.
While the steep 126% preliminary duty is a headwind, Waaree appears relatively insulated because it is localising production in the U.S. and diversifying supply. Near-term stock sentiment may remain cautious pending the final U.S. ruling, but the management's guidance suggests limited order-book impact.
