The Board of Directors of Mathew Easow Research Securities Ltd, a Kolkata-based non-banking financing company, approved its standalone audited financial results for the quarter and financial year ended March 31, 2025. Total income for FY25 stood at Rs 266.52 lakh compared to Rs 1,454.19 lakh in FY24, a sharp decline mainly because FY24 included a one-time Rs 1,200 lakh sale of stock and securities. Core interest income was largely stable at Rs 258.88 lakh (FY25) vs Rs 246.34 lakh (FY24). Profit after tax rose to Rs 8.30 lakh from Rs 6.02 lakh, a growth of about 38%, taking basic EPS to Rs 0.12. Statutory auditor GGPS and Associates issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on the results.
The lower headline revenue is largely optical due to the absence of last year's one-off trading gain, while core lending income and bottom-line profitability actually improved. Shareholders should see this as a steady year for the financing business, though the company remains small and borrowings of Rs 2,198 lakh exceed equity of Rs 1,418 lakh.
