Westlife Foodworld (operator of McDonald's restaurants in West and South India) reported FY25 consolidated revenue from operations of ₹2,49,119 lakhs, up 4.2% from ₹2,39,181 lakhs in FY24. However, profit after tanked 82.4% to ₹1,215 lakhs (vs ₹6,921 lakhs last year) and profit before tax fell 86% to ₹1,305 lakhs, as total expenses grew 8.1% — outpacing revenue growth. Q4 revenue rose 7.3% to ₹60,314 lakhs, but Q4 PAT of ₹152 lakhs remained thin. FY25 EPS was just ₹0.78 versus ₹4.44 in FY24. The auditor (SRBC & Co LLP) issued an unmodified opinion. Borrowings rose to ₹30,810 lakhs (from ₹23,890 lakhs) and lease liabilities stood at a hefty ₹1,31,508 lakhs. Operating cash flow improved modestly to ₹34,490 lakhs.
A sharp collapse in profits despite modest revenue growth signals significant cost pressure and margin compression — shareholders should expect a weak market reaction given the dramatic earnings decline. Rising borrowings and already-large lease obligations (typical for the QSR business model) are also worth watching.
