Yes Bank responded to NSE's clarification query on a Moneycontrol news item about unauthorised transactions on its Multi-Currency Prepaid Forex Cards (issued in partnership with BookMyForex). On February 24, 2026, between 3:30 AM and 8:30 AM IST, fraudulent transactions were attempted at 15 merchants in a Latin American country that does not require two-factor authentication for e-commerce. Approximately USD 0.28 million (around INR 2.5 crore) was approved on behalf of 5,000 customers, while 688 unauthorised attempts worth about USD 0.1 million were blocked by the bank's fraud monitoring system. The bank has restricted e-commerce transactions from that country and is working with the card network to raise chargebacks so customers don't face losses. The bank stated there is no material impact and nothing undisclosed under SEBI LODR regulations.
The incident appears contained with a relatively small financial exposure (INR 2.5 crore) and no material impact declared by the bank, so near-term shareholder impact should be limited. However, any perception of a data breach could affect customer trust in the forex card product and draw regulatory attention in the medium term.
