Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) reported FY26 standalone revenue of ₹75,670 million, down 1.9% from ₹77,124 million in FY25. Profit after tax collapsed to ₹559 million from ₹7,013 million in the prior year — a 92% decline — largely due to a ₹3,022 million additional charge from revised inventory consumption estimates and ₹94 million in restructuring costs. Q4 FY26 recorded a net loss of ₹1,809 million versus a profit of ₹1,555 million in Q4 FY25. The Board recommended a dividend of ₹2 per share. Auditors issued an unmodified opinion but included Emphasis of Matter on two matters: (1) ongoing SEBI investigations and MCA inspection regarding vendor transactions, with show cause notices already filed, and (2) a ₹1,097 million arbitration claim from Jiostar India over the terminated ICC broadcasting rights agreement. Separately, IDBI Bank filed an insolvency petition under IBC against the Company in September 2025.
The steep profit decline and loss-making quarter reflect operational stress from content inventory charges and restructuring. The ongoing SEBI probe and massive Jiostar arbitration claim represent significant contingent liabilities. The insolvency petition from IDBI Bank raises going concern questions despite the auditors not qualifying their opinion.
