Zee Media reported a sharp turnaround in Q3 FY26 with consolidated revenue from operations jumping to Rs. 240.32 crore from Rs. 159.45 crore a year ago, a rise of about 51%. The company swung to a profit of Rs. 52.77 crore in Q3, compared to a loss of Rs. 22.42 crore in the same quarter last year. For the nine-month period, profit after tax stood at Rs. 28.43 crore versus a loss of Rs. 82.66 crore earlier. A major chunk of the Q3 revenue came from a one-time licensing of the company's content archives worth Rs. 80.19 crore. Earnings per share for Q3 came in at Rs. 0.84 compared to a loss of Rs. 0.36. However, the statutory auditors flagged a material uncertainty about the company's ability to continue as a going concern, citing significant accumulated losses and negative working capital. The company plans to raise funds through Foreign Currency Convertible Bonds (FCCBs) of up to USD 4.65 crore to strengthen its finances.
The headline numbers look strong, but investors should note that a large part of Q3's profit comes from a one-time archive licensing deal rather than steady operations. The going-concern flag from auditors and continued negative working capital suggest financial weakness persists, even as the company tries to raise fresh capital through FCCBs and warrants.
