Zydus Lifesciences board has approved a buyback of up to 95,65,217 equity shares (0.95% of paid-up capital) at INR 1,150 per share for a total consideration of INR 1,100 crores. The buyback represents 5.16% and 3.84% of standalone and consolidated free reserves respectively as of March 31, 2026. The buyback will be executed through the tender offer route, allowing all shareholders including promoters to participate on a proportionate basis. The record date for determining eligible shareholders is May 29, 2026. Promoter and promoter group currently hold approximately 75% of the company's equity shares.
The buyback at INR 1,150 per share signals management confidence in the company's undervalued stock and provides a direct exit option to shareholders at a premium price. The 0.95% stake being bought back will have a modest positive impact on per-share metrics for remaining shareholders.
