Central Mine Planning & Design Institute (CMPDIL) is the mining consultancy arm of Coal India, providing geological exploration, mine planning, design and related advisory services. Its core work is exploration drilling, with a stated FY26-27 target of 12 lakh metres of drilling, and 2D/3D seismic survey (target of 475 line km). The company also holds exploration licences, including a rare earth elements block in Rajasthan, and has signed consultancy MoUs with NTPC (mining), MECL (exploration), and ICVL (Mozambique coal). It reported Q1 FY27 revenue of Rs 481.37 crore, up about 17.6% year-on-year. For FY26, revenue was Rs 2,316.53 crore with net profit of Rs 613.18 crore and EBITDA margin of 37.06%. The cost base is dominated by employees at 32.2% of revenue and other operating expenses at 33.1%, with materials at just 1.2% and depreciation at 1.5%, consistent with a services model rather than a mining operator. Revenue streams, as the annual report describes them. Mining consultancy and exploration services. Asset-light mining consultancy, dominated by people and exploration activity rather than commodity production

Sources, method and disclosures

This document is a statistical summary of publicly filed information and market data, prepared by software from primary sources: SEBI results XBRL filed with BSE and NSE, LODR disclosures, shareholding patterns, exchange price data. It contains no research recommendation, no price target and no opinion on the merits of any security, and is not a research report within the meaning of the SEBI (Research Analysts) Regulations, 2014, Regulation 2(1)(w)(vii). Financial statements are as filed (consolidated where the company files consolidated results). Ratios are computed over filed lines. Where a figure is unavailable the table shows a dash rather than an estimate. The business brief is written by MarketPing's reader from the annual report and checked against it; no figure in a table was generated by a model. Nothing here constitutes investment advice, an offer or a solicitation; readers should consult a SEBI-registered adviser before acting. MarketPing is not a SEBI-registered intermediary.
