ABB India has announced a 23% capacity addition at its existing motor manufacturing facility, raising capacity from the current 26,300 units per month (running at 80% utilization). The expansion is targeted to be completed by 2029 and will require an investment of INR 140 Crores, funded entirely through internal accruals. The capacity ramp is aimed at supporting new product lines including Flame Proof Motors, Smoke Vent Motors, and Roller Table Motors. Alongside, the company has launched its IE5 Ultra Premium Efficiency LV Motors in the domestic market on September 25, 2025.
This is a moderate, well-funded capacity expansion (140 Cr is modest relative to ABB India's size) and signals confidence in demand growth for energy-efficient and specialty motors. For shareholders, the move supports future revenue growth and strengthens ABB's position in the premium-efficiency motor segment, though benefits are spread over several years until 2029.
