ACme Solar Holdings has won its first-ever standalone Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project from government-owned NHPC, with a cumulative capacity of 275 MW / 550 MWh across two sites in Andhra Pradesh — Kuppam (50 MW / 100 MWh) and Ghani (225 MW / 450 MWh). The winning tariffs are ₹210,000 per MW per month for Kuppam and ₹222,000 per MW per month for Ghani. The projects will receive viability gap funding (VGF) of ₹27 lakh per MWh or 30% of project cost, whichever is lower, and must deliver two full charge-discharge cycles daily. The win is part of NHPC's February 2025 tender to boost energy storage in Andhra Pradesh and marks ACME's entry into the standalone BESS segment, adding to its existing 6,970 MW diversified renewable portfolio.
Positive for shareholders — this is ACME's maiden standalone BESS win from a credible government counterparty, adding 550 MWh of storage capacity (effectively doubling its BESS pipeline) and diversifying revenue beyond solar and wind. The NHPC-backed order with assured viability gap funding lowers execution risk and strengthens long-term earnings visibility.
