Acme Solar Holdings, through its wholly owned subsidiary ACME Suryodaya Private Limited, has commissioned the first phase of a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. The phase-I capacity is 19 MW/38 MWh, which is part of a larger 285 MW/600 MWh project. The commercial operation date for this phase is set for February 27, 2026. The capacity will currently be sold on the merchant (open) market, with the company retaining the option to switch to a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in the future. The remaining capacity of the project is expected to be commissioned in subsequent phases.
This is a positive operational milestone, adding new revenue-generating capacity to the company's portfolio. Merchant sale typically offers higher short-term tariffs but also carries market price risk; the option to convert to a long-term PPA later provides earnings stability flexibility.
