Acutaas Chemicals Limited's wholly-owned subsidiary, Baba Advance Materials Limited (BAML), has signed a Joint Venture Agreement with South Korea's J & Materials Co. Ltd. to set up a manufacturing facility in South Korea. The new JV company, Indichem Inc., will manufacture and sell specialty chemicals for the semiconductor industry in Korea and other countries. BAML will hold 75% of the JV, while J & Materials will hold the remaining 25%. BAML will invest a total of KRW 30 billion (Korean Won Thirty Billion) in tranches over the next 12 months, subject to regulatory approvals in India and South Korea. The transaction is not a related party transaction and is part of BAML's strategy to expand its semiconductor chemicals business beyond India.
This is a strategic international expansion move into the high-growth semiconductor chemicals segment via a subsidiary, with a meaningful investment commitment. It signals BAML's ambition to become a global player in advanced semiconductor materials, which could be positive for long-term growth, though execution risks and approval timelines remain. Short-term stock reaction may depend on market view of the deal size relative to the company's overall scale.
