Adani Green Energy has commissioned a 3.37 GWh Battery Energy Storage System at Khavda, Gujarat, making it the world's largest single-location BESS deployment outside China. The project was completed in just 10 months from construction commencement, marking one of the fastest utility-scale battery storage deployments globally. This includes 1.37 GWh commissioned in March 2026. The company plans to add over 10 GWh of battery storage capacity in FY27 and scale to 50 GWh over the next five years. The BESS can store enough clean energy to power nearly one million homes for a day and is part of AGEL's larger 30 GW renewable energy plant development at Khavda.
This commissioning represents a significant operational milestone for AGEL, demonstrating execution capability in utility-scale energy storage. The expansion of battery storage capacity positions the company to offer reliable, round-the-clock clean power, which could strengthen revenue streams and grid partnership agreements.
