On 15 October 2025, AIA Engineering said its listed subsidiary, Welcast Steels, will permanently close its Peenya, Bengaluru plant on 15 December 2025. The old plant uses outdated technology, has high production costs and falling capacity use, and cannot be modernised economically. The unit had turnover of about Rs 84.50 crore, 1.97% of AIA's revenue, and net worth of Rs 39.72 crore, 0.57%.
AIA expects no adverse effect as it has enough spare capacity to meet demand. The filing did not quantify cost savings or any financial impact.
