Algoquant Fintech's board has approved buying a small stake in National Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Limited (NCDEX) for up to Rs. 5,00,00,036. The company will acquire 2,53,370 equity shares of NCDEX at Rs. 197.34 per share, which is 0.28% of NCDEX's post-issue capital. NCDEX is a major national online commodity exchange with a net worth of around Rs. 616 crores and FY25 turnover of Rs. 122 crores. The deal is a pure cash investment, not a related-party transaction, and will be completed within 60 working days. The company says the move aligns with its strategy to strengthen its presence in the financial services and securities market ecosystem.
This is a small minority, strategic investment (just 0.28% of NCDEX) and is unlikely to move Algoquant Fintech's stock meaningfully on its own. However, it signals the company's intent to deepen its footprint in commodity derivatives and financial markets, which could support its long-term fintech strategy.
