Alkem Laboratories has become the first company in India to launch semaglutide in single-shot pre-filled syringes, priced from INR350. The company received DCGI approval to manufacture and market the product for Type 2 diabetes and obesity. This adds to the pen format launched in March 2026, with vials coming soon. The move aims to widen patient access and lower entry barriers. Alkem is India's sixth-largest pharma firm.
First-mover in India's growing GLP-1 market; affordable pricing and multiple formats may boost share in diabetes and obesity segments.
