On the reaction day the stock moved 1.8 pts less than Nifty 100 and 1.1 pts less than its Cement & Cement Products peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Shareholders of Ambuja Cements approved the scheme to merge Orient Cement Limited into the company at an NCLT-convened meeting on Sept 28, 2026. About 99.98 percent of votes (around 225.4 crore shares) backed the merger; only 0.02 percent (about 4.18 lakh shares) opposed. Promoters holding 67.33 percent of capital voted fully in favour. The resolution also got the required majority from public shareholders under the SEBI circular. The scheme still needs final NCLT sanction to become effective.
Key shareholder approval secured for Orient Cement acquisition. Next step is NCLT sanction. Positive for capacity expansion, but swap ratio matters for dilution.
