Antony Waste Handling Cell Limited has announced a strategic partnership with Japan-based JFE Engineering Corporation, marking the first Japanese FDI into India's Waste-to-Energy sector. JFE Engineering will invest approximately ¥750 million (~₹40-45 crore based on current exchange rates) to acquire a 25% equity stake in two special purpose vehicles developing Waste-to-Energy plants in Kadapa and Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. Antony Waste will hold the remaining 75%. The two plants will process ~1,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day each, generating ~15 MW of power per plant (30 MW combined). The projects have a 20-year concession period with a PPA tariff of ₹8.10 per unit, and total project revenue is estimated at ~₹3,200 crores over the concession period. Construction will take 24 months with commissioning targeted for Q1 FY29. JFE Engineering India will act as the EPC contractor and technology partner, leveraging experience from 250+ global waste treatment facilities.
This is a positive development for shareholders as it validates Antony Waste's execution capabilities and brings in a globally reputable technology partner with strong financial backing. The ₹3,200 crore revenue potential over 20 years represents substantial future revenue visibility, though revenue recognition will be spread over the concession period.
