AstraZeneca Pharma India has announced that Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Panchal will step down as Managing Director effective June 30, 2025, as he is moving to a global role within the AstraZeneca Group in Gaithersburg, Maryland, US. The Board has accepted his resignation and recorded appreciation for his contributions. To ensure a smooth transition, the Board has appointed Mr. Praveen Rao Akkinepally as the new Managing Director for a three-year term starting July 1, 2025. Mr. Akkinepally is an internal AstraZeneca leader with over 20 years of experience in oncology and biopharmaceuticals, currently heading the Oncology Business Unit for India. He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a Master's in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University.
