AstraZeneca Pharma India has received approval from India's drug regulator CDSCO to import and distribute Enhertu (Trastuzumab deruxtecan) for an additional indication in India. The expanded approval covers the use of Enhertu as a monotherapy for adult patients with unresectable or metastatic HER2-low or HER2-ultralow breast cancer who have received at least one prior endocrine therapy. This widens the patient population eligible for Enhertu beyond the previously approved HER2-positive cases. Marketing in India for this new indication is subject to receipt of any additional statutory approvals.
This is a positive development as it broadens the addressable market for a key oncology drug in AstraZeneca's portfolio, potentially driving incremental revenue growth in India. The expanded label could enhance Enhertu's commercial potential in the country's growing oncology segment.
