The Joint Commissioner of CGST and CX, Guwahati ordered Bajaj Auto to pay Rs. 3,51,87,014 in tax for excess input tax credit claimed in FY 2021-22, plus applicable interest and a penalty of Rs. 35,18,701. The company received the order on October 6, 2025, says it met all GST conditions, and plans to appeal.
Bajaj Auto says the order has no major financial impact and plans to appeal, though payment could reduce cash flow if the demand is upheld.
