Bank of Baroda's Board of Directors approved raising additional capital of up to Rs.6,000 crore through Additional Tier 1 (AT1) and/or Tier II bonds. The capital will be raised in suitable tranches up to March 31, 2027, and beyond if deemed expedient. The approval is subject to applicable statutory and regulatory approvals. The board meeting lasted from 10:00 AM to 4:15 PM on May 8, 2026.
AT1 and Tier II bonds are regulatory capital instruments that help banks meet RBI's capital adequacy requirements. This strengthens the bank's balance sheet and capital cushion, which is positive for creditworthiness. No immediate dilution for equity shareholders since these are debt instruments.
